Tungarli Lake is an artificial reservoir in Lonavala which is located at north of S. T. Stand near Tungarli village. This lake is the major source of water supply to Lonavala city. Tungarli Lake is a small lake with rough approach roads. This lake comes to life during the monsoon season and its water is crystal clear during the same season. The hill on which the lake is situated offers a magnificent view of the Lonavala city to the visitors. The night lighting of the city can be viewed from here which offers a breathtaking view. Tungarli village, in the hills in Sahyadri ranges, offers picturesque panoramic view of the down city Rajmachi and also other places such as Lonavala and Lohagad. |
| There is a dam across the Lake which was built during the British era. This Dam features a peaceful surrounding with a lot of vegetation around. This Dam was constructed in the 1930s, helps in the irrigation of the Rajmachi region. Tungarli Dam built across this Lake is a famous weekend picnic spot. Reaching the dam site is a trekker’s virtue. The camping facilities for the trekkers and tourists are available at the lake site. Some new resorts are also available in this place. The Lake and Dam both offers an excellent place for back-pack Camping. You can see hotel Laguna from the top and also see some celebrity bungalows. It provides much peace and serenity to all those who long to take a break from the fast city life and spend time with nature. |
