A charming hill station, Lonavala is blessed with diversely rich natural beauty. Lonavala is a captivating tourist destination and the hill station provides quick getaways to people in the region. The valleys, lush greenery, spouting waterfalls and pleasant climate regularly depicted in cinema, actually attracts tourists from all over India. Referred to as the “Jewel of the Sahyadris”, it holds many attractions.

One of the most fascinating attractions is the ancient rock cut Karla and Bhaja Caves, which bespeak the prominence of Hinayana Buddhism in the region. Dating back to the 2nd century B.C. Karla in particular is a complex of cave shrines built by Buddhist monks. There are also several rocky hills that are ideal for rock climbing.


Rajmachi Point located 6.5 km from Lonavla provides a commanding view of Shivaji's famous fort and the surrounding valley. Ryewood Park also known as Shivaji Udyan is extensive gardens in Lonavla. Yet another key attraction of Lonavala is the picturesque Kune Falls. This three-tiered waterfall is truly breathtaking & forms a spectacular sight from the Mumbai-Pune road.

The beautiful Lonavla Lake is surrounded by natural scenery but the lake dries up in the winter months. Other landmarks that continually lure tourists to Lonavala include Duck's Nose, Tiger's Leap, Lion's Point, Shooting Point and Bushy Dam.
